Il a cofond\u00e9 le collectif African Jazz-Art Society &amp; Studios (AJASS), qui a contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 valoriser une esth\u00e9tique noire autonome et militante. Brathwaite a notamment utilis\u00e9 la photographie pour repr\u00e9senter le corps noir de mani\u00e8re libre et positive, c\u00e9l\u00e9brant la couleur de peau et l\u2019identit\u00e9 culturelle afro-am\u00e9ricaine, fortement influenc\u00e9e par la musique afro-am\u00e9ricaine, notamment le jazz, la soul puis le funk.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Il a collabor\u00e9 avec des maisons de disques et a r\u00e9alis\u00e9 des pochettes de vinyles pour des artistes tels qu\u2019Abbey Lincoln et Max Roach.
